ABOUT THE PROJECT

Leroy Merlin reinforces its energy transition with two new Photovoltaic projects in Leiria, Portugal.

This is the first project of the different Leroy Merlin stores in Portugal with two solar photovoltaic plants installed in the same space – one on the roof of the building and the other in the car parking (solar carport) to produce about 38% of the store’s energy needs.

The entire roof of the building was monetized to produce clean and renewable energy, together with the solar parking with the possibility of offering protection to 78 vehicles in the parking lot of the Leroy Merlin store in Leiria, Portugal. These 2 solar plants together have the capacity of 500 kWp and will produce around 718 MWh of energy each year.

This project, in line with the company’s sustainability strategy, will make it possible to avoid around 323 tons of CO2 annually, the equivalent of planting 8,300 trees per year or the annual energy consumption by 144 households (equivalent / year).
